The Other Blog

I recently started another blog.  Why? Well, this blog deals with some pretty deep issues–PTSD, trauma, personality disorders. sexual trauma, body issues, issues of faith, and learning to recover, move forward, and survive after and, often, in the midst of circumstances characterized by the aforementioned.  But, there are other things to discuss when it comes to thriving.

If we are going to talk about surviving sexual abuse and trauma, then eventually we are going to have to talk about sex.  This blog didn’t seem to be the venue to discuss sex, at least not how I wanted to talk about it.  We are more than just victims or even survivors of the events that we’ve experienced.  We are also human beings living in the present and looking toward the future.  It’s difficult to look to the future (or even live in the present) if something as important and foundational as our sexuality seems fractured.  Sexual trauma strikes at our sexuality and shatters it.  Doing the important work of reintegrating our sexuality so that we can once again thrive sexually is one of the most important things we can ever do for ourselves.  Writing about my journey doing that work is why I created the other blog.

If that is a topic that interests you, then check it out.  There will be explicit language from time to time, but it will be purposeful.  There are resources.  It is essentially my own personal map from hating sex to wondering why I hated it to wondering if I could ever learn to like sex to wondering why I couldn’t ever stay present to feeling curious to being open to beginning to feel my body again to feeling determined to recover my sexuality to…finally, engaging in the process of healing my own sexuality and learning about what that means.
