I have blogged for over ten years, and my blogs have seen me through the most interesting, joyful, exhilarating, and devastating life experiences. They are like friends in a way. Some experiences I've recorded I never imagined I would, and that can be said of the bad and the blissful. Today, in 2020, I am a woman learning to practice joy. I am in my third year of a doctoral program in Eastern medicine. I recently moved to the Bay Area just a mile away from the Pacific Ocean as well as a mile away from my partner. There are times for ripping out the old foundations in order to build new ones. Sometimes we are presented with the opportunity to build something we want. If we're brave, then we build something that we only dreamed about but never really thought would ever come true. I'm trying to be brave. Be brave with me, and keep going.
I leave you with the words of J.R.R. Tolkien...
“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
The Fellowship of The Ring
